"The Black Monk" is an opera that was conceived by the great Dmitry Shostakovich. Writing (or having someone else write) the opera was in Shostakovich's mind through many years, primarily around the second 25 years of the 20th century. The only musical work of this unfinished opera is in the second scene (Crimea). We are proud to offer this rare masterpiece to you, with both a score (containing the soprano (voice), alto/mezzo soprano (voice), violin, and piano parts, all as transcribed by Shostakovich. The violin part is also included as a separate sheet, for ease of performance.
